Sensory Integration Therapy

The ability to understand and coordinate our senses helps us organize our world and build a strong foundation for learning. Difficulty with sensory input may affect behavior, learning, social skills, motor skills and life skills.

Organizing Our World

Every child grows and develops at his or her own pace. Sometimes, additional help is needed in order for your child to reach developmental milestones. The earlier a challenge is addressed, the better the future success for your child.

Each child’s sensory system receives input in a different way. The ability to understand and coordinate our senses helps us organize our world and build a strong foundation for learning. Difficulty with sensory input may affect behavior, learning, social skills, motor skills and life skills. Through sensory integration therapy, Occupational Therapists change how the brain and body respond to our senses of touch, sound, sight, and movement. Children participate in therapy sessions designed to address their specific sensory needs through exercises and play-based activities.
